We
welcome pets. The only conditions are that residents are able to look
after their pets themselves and that the pets do not bother other
residents.

For
all units applicants:
·
Must be 60 years or more, or over 50 and unable to work for
medical reasons.
· Must be well and independent.
The
date of application is a factor since we have a waiting list.
We
are not able to admit people who have developed cognitive impairment
i.e. Alzheimers, since we do not have the facilities or the staff to
provide the needed safety and supports.

our agreement with CMHC.

For Supportive
Living units the wait is about 6-18 months.
You should make your application now, well before the time you
need to make a move so that you have seniority on the waiting list.
We charge a small
application fee and annual renewal fee thereafter to keep your name on
the waiting list.
Return
to Questions
Because
we have an ‘Active’ and an ‘Inactive’ waiting list, we do
expect that those who want to be on the Active list are indeed ready
to accept a unit when we call. However there are sometimes extenuating
circumstances. While you don’t go to the bottom of the list, often
other factors arise, such as someone else activating their application
with an earlier date. It is not wise to refuse an offer once you have
put yourself on the Active list.

simple phone call is all you have to do. If you’re not sure what is
best, just give us a call.

For
apartment residents:
You,
your families or a person who has your Power of Attorney for care
would contact the Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) and a Case
Manager would be assigned to help you sort out your options. Because
of the almost infinite possibilities of needs a more specific answer
here would not helpful. What is important is that you arrange for a
Power of Attorney for Care and For Finances. You are responsible for
arranging and paying for any extra care you need.
For
residents on the Supportive Living Unit:
There
are often various options depending on what the nature of you needs
is. The RN will help you, your family or the person with Power of
Attorney for Care determine how best to meet these needs. For
short-term illness the RNs and Health Care Aides can care for you or
make the appropriate arrangements. Should you need ongoing assistance
with daily bathing, grooming or meals the RN can help you access extra
care at your cost.
Return
to Questions
On
the Supportive Living Unit there is one charge for the services we
provide. If you don’t need them all when you come in, they are there
for you whenever you do need them at no extra charge. Of course, there
would be a charge to you for services not provided in our package,
such as foot care, extra nursing and hairdressing.
